Parker Price-Miller is back in victory lane.
The young gun earned his first 410 sprint car win since he started treatment for cancer late last year, leading the last half of the race at Huset’s Speedway in their season opening weekly show.
“It feels so good. It’s my first win since starting treatment. After the checkered flag (flew), I was getting a little teary-eyed. I didn’t know if I was ever going to race again, so this is special. I know it’s just a local show, but there’s a lot of good guys here and this is going to mean something special in my heart forever.”
The Indiana native talked to Always Race Day before the action started on Saturday night at Knoxville:
Price-Miller started second in the feature before getting passed early by podium finisher Aaron Reutzel.
He was able to get by race leader Mark Dobmeier, as well as Reutzel, when the pair ran into lapped traffic and the No. 11 car pounced.
“My car was so good. We were really good on the bottom,” Price-Miller said in victory lane. “I was waiting for traffic, because Mark (Dobmeier) and Aaron (Reutzel) are so good in clean air – you’re not going to pass them. We were all racing each other hard. That was so fun.”
Price-Miller will continue his full-time tour with the All Star Circuit of Champions when the series hits Wilmot on Friday. As for Huset’s the weekly show returns to the track next Sunday, May 15, for the second event of the year.
