Shane Stewart has been one of the most dominant drivers in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series this season, he just didn’t have a win.
That changed on Friday night for the 2020 season journey man who has raced in three separate cars during the year, winning with the No. 71 car at Williams Grove.
Stewart came into the season without a full-time ride and has shown he is able to do more with less, collecting 10 top 10’s and six top 5’s in just 18 starts this year.
When he took the lead at the infamous track, there was no looking back, despite Anthony Macri and Donny Schatz both challenging from second place.
Nonetheless, Stewart ran away with it, leading all 25 laps of the main event.
The second place finish helps to extend Schatz’ lead in the standings over Brad Sweet – who finished P7.
Even if its just by a little bit, in what this season has been thus far, anything can happen.
Each of the top seven drivers in the series made that ring true Friday, too, with all of them finishing in the top 10. That includes both Logan Schuchart and Sheldon Haudenschild who transferred to the feature from the B-Main.
Schatz’ points lead rises by a bit, and all of these drivers come back to the race track tomorrow night, racing for the bigger purse of the weekend.
The World of Outlaws will be back on track on Saturday for Night 2 of the Summer Nationals at Williams Grove, with the action available on DirtVision.
