Sheldon Haudenschild put on yet another short-track show for fans at U.S. 36 Raceway on Friday night, earning his first win with the World of Outlaws in 26 events.

The Wooster, Ohio native made a number of daring moves on his way to victory lane on his father, Jac Haudenschild’s birthday.

“Yeah, happy birthday to my dad,” Haudenschild said on the DirtVision broadcast. “He was probably pacing around his kitchen for a while. Hats off to Ripper, he’s been working hard and when you kind of struggle to start the season, it’s tough. You’ve got to keep your spirits up and keep the whole team motivated. Yeah, just really happy with the whole night.”

Haudenschild fended off multiple battles for the lead that included the top three drivers in World of Outlaws points in Brad Sweet, Carson Macedo and David Gravel to secure the win.

Late in the race, Gravel was included in an accident that took out the No. 5 car of Spencer Bayston. He retired from the race and lost his points lead in the process.

In other issues, Garret Williamson could not get his car started and did not start the A-Main, while Kasey Kahne’s night ended in an upside-down wreck.

The series returns to the track Saturday for the Jason Johnson Classic on Saturday, April 8 for the 12th race of the season. All of the action can be seen live on DirtVision.
