Like many things, the 2020 Illini 100 didn’t happen, leaving reigning series title winner Brandon Sheppard as the defending crown jewel winner.
Now, at six official races into the 2021 tour, Sheppard still stands without a win.
It’s the longest he’s ever gone into a full-time World of Outlaws season without picking up a W, but he hopes to to change that this weekend in Illinois.
In 2019, he captured the win in the 75-lap feature event.
However, he’ll have some competition like usual.
A plethora of drivers from other late model tours will be heading to Farmer City as well as Bristol next weekend, just like we saw in last weeks Rock Gault Memorial, that ended up being postponed.
Brian Shirley won the preliminary 25-lap feature over Sheppard in 2019 and took home a Hell Tour championship last season as well.
Rookie of the Year contender Kyle Strickler is off to as hot of a start as anyone is coming into the show and could be able to make some noise, too.
The tour will practice at Farmer City Raceway on Thursday night before two nights of racing, with Saturday’s feature paying $20,000 to its winner.
Hot Laps are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT for Friday’s 25-lap main event night and 5:00 p.m. CT for Saturday’s 75-lap feature evening. All of the action can be streamed live on DirtVision.
