Two nights of action have been completed from the 68th Gold Cup Race of Champions and its delivered on the race track.
Ryan Timms saw a battle with Thursday night winner Kyle Larson fall one spot short, and secured a spot in the dash for tonight’s action.
Larson won’t be returning for Saturday’s main events due to conflicts with running a NASCAR Playoff race on Sunday at Kansas Speedway.
However, the iconic No. 57 will be rolling behind the power of Shane Golobic, who clinched one of the four spots in the dash as well.
Jacob Allen and Brad Sweet claimed the other two spots, given to the top points finishers from each night of action.
That means Carson Macedo, mired by a P9 qualifying run that netted him one spot short of a lock-in spot.
He’ll start on the pole of his heat race along with Spencer Bayston, James McFadden, and Kalib Henry.
The top four finishers from each heat race will qualify for the 68th Gold Cup Race of Champions Saturday. The broadcast for the race is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. CT on DirtVision.
