Ryan Timms passes Sweet, earns podium finish in second WoO start

Just two races and two days into his World of Outlaws career, Ryan Timms is already a podium finisher.

Crossing the finish line second on Saturday after passing three-time and defending champion Brad Sweet, the newly-turned 16 year-old took a couple points away from the Big Cat.

With the result, Timms becomes the youngest-ever podium finisher in series history.

“No, I mean maybe eventually, but (I didn’t see it happening) my second night out,” Timms said on DirtVision. I can’t thank (my crew) enough for giving me a great car.”

Timms’ debut with the series – which came Friday, once he passed the minimum age requirement – was highly anticipated.

He followed up his P9 from River Cities with this result tonight.

“They’re the best in the world. It’s just really surreal to be able to run even close to them. It’s a pretty cool moment. I’m just trying to take it all in.”
