Travis Pastrana wins modified A-Main win at Volusia

Motorsports and action sports superstar Travis Pastrana earned win in Thursday night’s first DIRTCar Nationals modified A-Main in what was just his third-ever start in the type of vehicle.

The driver of the No. 199 took the lead four laps in before opening up his advantage and finishing the race off to the checkered flag.

“We’re just coming out here to have a good time,” Pastrana said on the DirtVision broadcast. “We get to hang out with the Black Rifle Crew with so many friends and family. Getting ready for the 500 and trying to qualify for that.

About 100 drivers show up for the event, which runs throughout the week in a six-night format. Instead of a tradition field throughout the week, the modified class splits up into six A-Mains after qualifying ends and each driver competes in only one.”

Pastrana got some help, with the weekly points invert having the top point earners start 10th on Thursday, but he managed to take the win after starting third.

“We’ve been crashing a lot, but I appreciate all you guys coming out,” Pastrana said as he was presented with the trophy. “We got a gator!”

Pastrana will be back in the car on Friday and Saturday night before the week at Daytona International Speedway begins.
