Brandon Sheppard was doing all he could on the low line of the race track on Friday, trying to chase down Tyler Erb with a handful of laps to go at the World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main at Atomic Speedway.
That’s when Erb dialed it up a notch on the cushion.
The No. 1 car found its way back to victory lane thanks to Erb, landing there with the series for the third time in his career.
Sheppard’s runner-up finish trims Dennis Erb Jr.’s points lead to 24 points, although the veteran’s hot start to the year continued with a top five run.
The late models are back on track at Atomic on Saturday for their 10th race of the young season. For fans unable to make it to the track, DirtVision will have live coverage, as always.
