Grimes, Iowa native Brett Moffitt will go back to racing full-time in 2023, behind the wheel of the AM Racing No. 25 Ford Mustang.
The 2018 NASCAR Truck Series champion will race in all of the NASCAR Xfinity Series events for the team, which is entering its first full-time season on NASCAR’s premier minor league series.
The team will also be switching over to Ford from Chevrolet. It will race with a technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing and will be a part of the Ford Motor Company’s Ford Performance program. SHR will supply the team with cars and Roush Yates Engines will serve as the team’s engine builder.
“This is an integral move for AM Racing and our future in NASCAR,” AM Racing team principal Kevin Cywinski said in a release. “AM Racing is committed to ensuring that we are taking the necessary measures to not only give our team but Brett (Moffitt) the opportunity to be competitive from the time we show up to Daytona in February – which is something this group deserves.
Moffitt has made 84 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts in his career, earning 23 top 10 finishes as well as two top 5’s.
Moffitt also has 12 NASCAR Truck Series wins in 92 career starts.
“I am beyond excited about this next chapter in my career,” Moffitt said in the release. “Wade (Moore), Kevin (Cywinski) and the entire AM Racing team are putting the pieces together to make sure that we not only have a team that can run up front but win races in 2023. I was impressed by the team’s long-term plan and without question, I know that we will be able to accomplish the goals that we have set forth. I look forward to representing AM Racing as driver of the No. 25 Ford Mustang.”
Moffitt’s crew chief will be announced at a later date.
