The City of Newton will pay the NTT IndyCar Series $33,000 in each of the next three seasons, according to a report in the Newton Daily News.
The payment was unanimously supported and will come from the Newton Development Corporation in efforts to support tourism in the city.
Executive director of the corporation, Frank Liebl said that the goal is to bring investors to the community.
The deal does not confirm whether or not IndyCar will continue at the track with a doubleheader weekend in the future, but that is largely dependent on how this edition goes.
Iowa’s return to the IndyCar schedule comes with a pair of races in July on the 23rd and 24th, with national television coverage coming on NBC.
