The biggest late model tour that resides predominantly in the Midwest is working its way to Iowa.

For the only time this season, the annual DIRTCar Summer Nationals Hell Tour is coming to the state for one day only at Davenport Speedway this Thursday.

The race is the second of five consecutive nights for the tour that kicks off its week on Wednesday at Beaver Dam Raceway and concludes the week with a 4th of July Showdown at Lincoln Speedway in Illinois.

So far this season, it’s been Bobby Pierce dominating and establishing himself at the top of the series points standings, however the former Hell Tour champion penciled in five races that he will miss on the tour at the start of the summer.

Points standings count for a driver’s best 31 results of the originally 36 scheduled races, however with two races outright canceled, it will take a dominant year to take home the title once again – and that’s even more true for Pierce.

Pierce is tied with Brian Shirley for most wins on the tour this season, collecting two in the first handful of races a piece.

Shirley’s, though, have each come in the last two races. If there’s anyone to beat on tour right now it’s that No. 3S car, despite the early season struggles he’s seen.

During the first week of the season, Shirley forgot to go to the scales following the race, meaning a disqualification sent his race result to last place.

The pair will battle it out all week, along with the World of Outlaws’ Brandon Sheppard – who is taking advantage of an off week to come race with the tour.

On the Modified side, there’s been only one name to watch though.

Nick Hoffman has won every single Hell Tour main event so far, and while we’re only seven races into the year, the dominance he has shown early has been insane, no matter what way you look at it.

The action gets kicked off tonight at Beaver Dam, and as always can be seen live on DirtVision.com.
