In what was shortened from an originally scheduled four-night event to a pair of race days, it was the top pair of drivers in the Race XR Super Series taking home trophies from the Fever Heat 100.

Chris Madden wrapped up the event at Stuart International Speedway taking home the win on what turned into a rubbered down race track.

“It wasn’t rubbered down until we got to the lead,” Madden said. “We raced for about 25 or 26 laps – it was a heck of a race track. People don’t need to underestimate a guy’s race track. We fell back to fifth and worked our way back to the lead, so it had to be a good race track.”

Madden started the race in the second row, alongside fellow Race XR full-timer Jonathan Davenport, taking the third position early on in the race.

He tried to utilize the inside line on the race track, but never carried the momentum it would take to get him to pass either Bobby Pierce or then leader Jimmy Owens.

Instead, Madden fell to fifth and stalked the drivers ahead, finding the right moment to power by and work his way up to second on the low line, eventually passing Pierce for first.

Had Pierce moved to the bottom before the track took rubber, things might have played out differently.

“In the seat I figured, ‘dang, why didn’t I get moved down (sooner),'” Pierce said after the race. “Obviously, though, (Davenport) was running the top, so I could have got passed by him. It came quick, the rubber did. It was such a wide race track and we were all over the place and just bam – the rubber came and we went to the bottom. It was a split second thing, but oh well, we’ll take second and move on.”

With the win, Madden extends his points lead on Davenport by nine following a night where Davenport reigned supreme.

He now holds a 52-point lead in the series standings.

“We had a good run last night,” Madden said. “He went P1 last night and we backed it up with a win tonight. Two good drivers in the country are still 1-2.”

The RaceXR Super Series returns to the track in August for the Superior Showcase at Gondik Law Speedway in another Monday-Tuesday event (Aug. 8-9) for its next pair of races. All of the action throughout the season can be seen on RaceXR.plus.
