Sheldon Haudenschild ran in the sixth position when he crossed the finish line with four laps remaining.
That didn’t stop him from ripping the cushion in the closing moments and taking home the biggest winner’s check in his World of Outlaws career.
“I don’t know what to say,” Haudenschild said in victory lane. “(Kyle) Ripper’s the man. This would not be possible without him. He’s been here from the start. I’m just thankful for this team. I was a rookie with no wins – they could have fired me, but they trusted me and allowed me to make the moves I’ve made.”

Haudenschild overcame what was a curveball of a race track, passing podium finishers Buddy Kofoid and James McFadden on the final lap of race.
This wasn’t what the entire race looked like, however. The track gave the drivers only one lane for the first 18 laps of the race. Had it not been for a caution, caused by the door of the frontstretch gate obstructing a portion of the high line on the frontstretch, the race may have been a freight train.
Instead, drivers like David Gravel and Logan Schuchart had their nights altered by it.
After an open red was displayed, teams worked on their cars while the water truck and multiple push trucks packed in the top of the race track.
It got the surface improved, but still took drivers a number of laps to thoroughly establish multiple grooves.
Once that happened, there were only a handful of laps remaining, and as fans saw – Sheldon Haudenschild made it happen.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will continue the season with the Independence Day Spectacular, held annually at Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin, this Friday. The race will be broadcasted on DirtVision.
