Aric Almirola is putting off retirement for at least two years.
According to reports at the start of the season, Almirola planned for 2022 to be his last year behind the wheel full-time. Friday, he announced that he’d signed a multi-year deal with primary support from longtime sponsor Smithfield Foods.
The deal encompasses Smithfield holding the largest share of primary paint schemes for the Stewart Haas Racing No. 10 car as it has since it first appeared in NASCAR.
Almirola has amassed three career victories in the series and is facing a must-win at Daytona in Saturday’s regular season finale to keep his season alive.
