For the second time in his illustrious IndyCar career, Will Power is picking up the Astor Cup after winning a championship.
The Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia native secured his ninth podium of the season on Sunday at Laguna Seca in route to his second title, taking care of business all weekend.
Power earned the pole award for the race and took a 20-point lead into the season finale.
In the past, he’s taken a points lead into the final race four times. Only one of those ended with a championship.
Sunday, though, it came through for Power. He earned his first title since the 2014 season and also set the record for most poles in an IndyCar career, earning his 68th in the qualifying session.
Team Penske is back on top and Will Power is back to being the class of the field.
