Devin Moran dominated the World of Outlaws CASE Late Model Series season opener on Thursday at Volusia Speedway Park’s Sunshine Nationals, passing Tim McCreadie early and never looking back.

It looked like McCreadie may not be touched in the race, but Moran made sure to put those doubts to bed during the second green-flag stint of racing.

“I was just way too tight to run the very top,” Moran said on the DirtVision broadcast. “Timmy was way too good up there and I just changed my line to be able to run with him. I figured out how to carry as much speed as I could. The new dirt is like what they’ve got all over here. You’ve got to be on the gas and you’ve got to be sideways.”

The win gives Moran 10 career World of Outlaws Late Model Series wins, making him the 21st driver to make it to the double digit mark.

Moran is in a new team for the 2023 season and is slated to race the full Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule.

“I just want to thank Roger (Sellers),” Moran said. “I have so many great people (on my team). My crew has done such a great job over the last month.”

The win nearly gave Longhorn Chassis a sweep of the podium positions with Tim McCreadie taking second and Rocket Chassis driver Chris Madden earning the third spot.

“Obviously, these Longhorn Chassis are the best in the business at the moment, so I want to thank Matt, and all the guys at Longhorn,” Moran said. “They’re all super, super cool… Obviously, Steve Arpin puts them all together so I want to thank him.”

The series returns to the track on Friday for Night 2 of the Sunshine Nationals. Hot laps are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT on DirtVision.
