NASCAR dropped a major penalty report on Wednesday that includes a whopping 100 points taken out of each Hendrick Motorsports’ drivers standings after examining parts over the past week.
The sanctioning body dropped the hammer on each Hendrick team, as will as Kaulig Racing’s No. 31 car driven by Justin Haley.
The only drivers not effected are Chase Elliott, who was injured and didn’t benefit from the modified parts, and Josh Berry, who isn’t running for Cup Series points.
Each driver was docked 100 regular season points, 10 playoff points, fined $100,000 and issued a four-race suspension for their respective crew chief.
The teams have opportunity to appeal the penalties, however with Elliott out, some have speculated that Hendrick Motorsports could start crew chief Alan Gustafson’s suspension this weekend.
No decisions have been officially announced aside from the major penalties, which are the biggest combined fines to a single organization ($400,000 to HMS) in NASCAR history.
