DAVENPORT, Iowa – Dennis Erb Jr. took advantage of a track surface at Davenport Speedway that was similar to that of a rubbered down race track, but a result of a dominant bottom groove.
The veteran driver captured Round 5 of the FloRacing Night in America Series – his second of the year with the tour – driving away from the field after the halfway mark.
Erb Jr. sits in eighth in points with the series, but because the tour takes only a driver’s best 10 finishes of 13 events, he’s still in contention for the title there, should he race the full tour.
Like others, Erb Jr. will head east to chase the full-time points season with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Some drivers competing will chase the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Wednesday was the backend of a mid-week doubleheader designed to pit the best of the best against each other and give drivers additional race days.
While Erb Jr. stood in victory lane, Hudson O’Neal reaped the benefits of a second place result, giving him a 33-point lead in the series standings.

The series will return to the track on May 31 for a date at Florence Speedway.
