Cap Henry earns Second Ohio Speedweek Win at Wayne County

Cale Conley lead 27 laps of the 30-lap Ohio Sprint Speedweek Feature at Wayne County Speedway Monday night, trying to win his first Ollie’s All Star Circuit of Champions race in his career.

However, that win alludes him at least two days further as Cap Henry made the pass for the lead going down the backstretch with two laps two go.

Up to that point, though, it seemed like Conley was the only driver on the track that was immune to getting passed.

Early on it looked like Kyle Larson was in a different league, making passes left and right after starting the race in 21st – like he has been doing all summer so far.

Him and Buddy Kofoid were in an accident during the second heat race of the night, causing issues the entire evening for Kofoid and a trip through the B-Main for both drivers.

Larson would ultimately run out of time, finishing in sixth right behind Justin Peck who passed 11 cars on his way to a top five finish.

Jac Haudenschild was even throwing his fuel tank around, at one point challenging Henry for second after starting the race in 12th.

There was movement throughout the field, and Conley was up front putting space between him and P2. Eventually, though, the lapped traffic became too much and Henry made up the ground, making the race winning move on lap 28.

For Henry, its his second win of Ohio Sprint Speedweek and it launches him to fifth in the standings for the nine-race series.

As for a consolation for Conley, he sits 14 points back of defending ASCOC champion Aaron Reutzel for the Ohio Speedweek lead.

The All Star Circuit of Champions will return to the track for the fifth night of Ohio Speedweek on Wednesday after taking an off day in the middle of the mini tour. They’ll visit Brushcreek Motorsports Complex with the action streamed live on FloRacing.
