Brady Bacon started outside of the first two rows during Saturday night’s USAC Sprint Car Feature, but he had no problem getting to the front and pulling away.
The No. 69 car was the class of the field at Lawrenceburg Speedway for the second year in a row.
“We just kept chipping away at it and making adjustments,” Bacon said on the FloRacing broadcast. “We don’t change a lot with our program year after year, so it’s easy to tell when you make small adjustsments if they’re working or not.
Bacon ended up winning the race with over a three-second lead on runner-up C.J. Leary.
The win for him is his first of the 2021 USAC season, as well as his second in a row at the Indiana race track.
Bacon earned the win last season there during the tour’s finale race.
Leary, meanwhile, was holding off a late charge from Chris Windom, who had gotten by fellow NOS Energy Drink driver Justin Grant for third.
Thomas Meseraull used a late-race charge to round out the top five.
The USAC Sprint Cars return to the track on April 16 for a three-day weekend of racing in the Hoosier state, kicking off at Bloomington Speedway.
“Absolutely,” Bacon said. “Budget-wise, winning early on in the year (pads your pockets). We don’t make any money when we’re not racing. It’s a long winter.”
