Colton Herta started Sunday’s IndyCar race from the pole position, got passed on the first lap of the race, and then put his head down and drove like only he can.

The Andretti Autosport driver earned the win, leading 97 of 100 laps, during the tour’s second race of the season.

Herta’s victory is the first this season for Andretti Autosport and the fourth career trip to the IndyCar winners circle for him. It also vaulted him to fourth in the standings.

Defending race winner Josef Newgarden would couldn’t touch the 26 car, settling for a second-place finish a week after the pair of drivers retired from contention on lap 1.

Simon Pagenaud rounded out the podium and Jack Harvey was a spot away from his second career podium. Scott Dixon picked up the top five finish.

After qualifying P20 on Saturday, Will Power called it one of the worst sessions he’s had in his career. Although, he managed to get out and improve by 12 positions by the end of the day, coming home P8.

Alex Palou only salvaged a P17 run, but held on to his lead in the points standings for the time being. Jimmie Johnson brought out a pair of cautions during the race, finishing P22.

IndyCar returns to the track next week for a doubleheader weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.
