Justin Grant didn’t earn a single USAC Silver Crown win in 2020, but he captured his first sanctioned championship by the established brand nonetheless.
In 2021, he’ll go for a repeat – and he’ll have twice as many chances to capture that elusive W that’s evaded him since 2018.
The Ione, California native in Grant will lead the USAC Silver Crown field of contenders into the first race of the season on Sunday on the asphalt at Winchester Speedway.
If you’re new to the Silver Crown tour, it’s a historically heralded series that runs around 10 races a season on both pavement and asphalt tracks throughout the summer. Names like Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Jason Leffler and J.J. Yeley are synonymous with the tour and all won championships racing in it.
Speaking of former champions, the field for this weekend has just two.
Grant is joined by the king of Silver Crown racing himself in five-time title winner Kody Swanson.
Swanson’s streak of three titles in a row was interrupted by Grant, who was fastest during practice session held midweek for the race, in his quest for a sixth title.
Unlike other USAC shows, the cars will qualify on Sunday at noon CT to set the lineup for the 100-lap main event.
ARCA driver Toni Breidinger and USAC stars Logan Seavey and Shane Cottle are also on tab on the entry list.
The race, being dubbed as the Rich Vogler Classic, will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on FloRacing.
