Logan Schuchart came into the 2021 World of Outlaws season as one of the favorites to contend and try to dethrone two-time and defending champion Brad Sweet.

He started off the season with a win at the DIRTCar Nationals in Volusia, but hadn’t made a trip back to victory lane since, that is until the tour visited Bridgeport on Tuesday.

“Confidence is everything honestly,” Schuchart said on the DirtVision broadcast. “We started out the season so strong and just started having some small issues. It seems like they came one after another.”

The driver of the No. 1S piloted his Shark Racing car around Carson Macedo – who was coming off of a big win of his own at Williams Grove – to take his first win since February.

It was a major confidence booster for a team like Shark Racing, which saw Schuchart leading at Bristol before an expired engine partially cost them a win and a podium finish.

“Some of the stuff you cant help,” Schuchart said in victory lane. “We broke a motor at Bristol – it had nothing to do with the engine builder. Sometimes parts fail. There’s nothing you can do about it, but since then, some of us we kind of did to ourselves. It’s just about getting our butts in gear. We needed some of that confidence back.”

Schuchart’s victory was just his second top five finish since the tour left Bristol Motor Speedway.

After his engine went, Schuchart and the team took home a fourth-straight finish of either P19 or P20, starting off the stretch of bad luck and poor results.

The team has, at the very least, rebounded in the past four races – collecting two podiums including the win on Tuesday as well as coming back from a nasty accident early in the weekend at Williams Grove.

Macedo and Jason Johnson Racing, on the other hand, just keep getting better.

The No. 41 car sits third in the points standings after its second podium finish in three races with Macedo behind the wheel.

He nearly got the win, too.

“I feel like I had the car to win. I think I lost the race there in traffic. I got to the top there and then (Schuchart) got by me on the bottom. I moved down, but he went lower. Like I said, I feel bad for our 41 guys. Really want to get wins for them. We’ll settle for second tonight.”

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is back on the track this weekend, going to Ohio for a pair of races at Attica Raceway Park and Sharon Speedway.
