It looked like it might get a little crazy in the waning minutes of an action packed Indiana Sprint Week race, but Logan Seavey put that thought to rest.
After a green-white-checkered finish came to be his opponent on the night, Seavey stayed cool and blew away the field with a blistering restart.
It landed him the USAC Indiana Sprint Week win at Lawrenceburg Speedway.
“We worked on a pretty decent restart and kind of protected from there,” Seavey said on the FloRacing broadcast. “I knew I’d be safe if I didn’t screw it up.”
Seavey has a history of good runs at Lawrenceburg.
During the last USAC Midget race at the track, Seavey walked away with both the USAC win as well as the support class non-wing sprint car victory.
He completed the W in similar fashion on Sunday.
“I feel like every time I’ve been here, I’ve been pretty good. This year, everything’s coming together. That yellow coming to the checkered was a heartbreaker – you’ve got to sit there for five minutes under red and figure out what you have to do better to keep those guys behind you.”
The race started with Tanner Thorson and Jake Swanson sliding each other through the first handful of laps.
The pair of drivers traded the lead and Seavey sat in third, lurking still with 10 laps to go.
When he got a caution that late in the race, Seavey turned on the jets. He got by Thorson right off the bat with nine laps remaining and then passed Thorson for the lead with five to go.
Seavey and co. will travel North on Monday, for a postponed Night 3 of Indiana Sprint Week and take to the track at Gas City I-69 Speedway. Live coverage for the race can be seen on FloRacing.
