Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing the new name behind '22 team

Tuesday morning, one of NASCAR’s most popular teams announced officially the new name of its brand following the addition of 2012 champion Brad Keselowski.

The new brand for the team will be called Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing – or RFK Racing, as its branded in the new logo.

“Today’s announcement is more than a fancy new logo,” Keselowski said in a press release. “It’s an acknowledgment to our heritage, a renewed commitment to our people and a stake in the ground that says we are here to operate top-tier race teams in the sport of NASCAR for decades to come. I’m thrilled to be a part of this next chapter with Jack Roush and John Henry.”

The team will remain a two-car team with Keselowski piloting the No. 6 car and Chris Buescher controlling the No. 17.

Matt McCall will be Keselowski’s crew chief in the No. 6 Mustang. Scott Graves, who crew chiefed Buescher’s Xfinity championship season, will call the shots above the No. 17 pit box.

“The heritage and innovation of Jack Roush, the championship swagger of Fenway Sports Group and the passion for racing of Brad Keselowski are what merges together to create RFK Racing,” added Newmark. “These principles form and drive the fundamentals of our team and the new brand, as we lay out the roadmap that will lead us into the future.”

The group is hoping to bring a similar level of increase in competition that is saw when Fenway Group hopped on board over a decade ago.

It’ll get its first look on the track on Wednesday and Thursday as the series tests its NextGen car on the oval at Charlotte.

“We are excited about this next chapter in our team’s history,” team president Steve Newmark said. “For our whole team, it has been vitally important to spend time and energy around this process to capture the right message about who we are as we move forward as an organization.”
