The final stretch of the 2021 USAC National Midget season is here, and before a pair of NASCAR champions come down to crash the party, all eyes will be on Chris Windom and Buddy Kofoid.

The pair, separated by 13 points in the standings, are in a fierce battle to bring home a championship to either of their respective teams.

Windom, who races for Chad Boat’s CB Industries team, is looking for his second consecutive USAC Midget championship. It’d be the fourth in his illustrious career that boasts a title from each of the sanctioning body’s top 3 premier series.

His competitor in Keith Kunz Motorsports’ Kofoid, though, is a young phenom trying to capture the national tour title for the first time in his career.

The two will be battling tooth-and-nail for everything they can bite off as the series concludes its season with seven races over an 11-day time span.

On top of battling each other, the western swing will feature a plethora of names coming into the series to race here and there. Two of those names being the last two NASCAR Cup Series champions in Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson.

It won’t take any of the focus away from Windom or Kofoid, but it could shake things up depending on how Elliott – and most likely more so for Larson – run when they join the tour for the Hangtown 100 later this week.

The title race is only divided by a couple of spots right now, there’s no telling what either of the NASCAR stars or other outsiders will throw at the competition in California.

The only certainty about it right now is that we’ll see a look at them on Tuesday during Bakersfield Speedway’s November Classic. The action can be seen live on FloRacing and Always Race Day will have full coverage of the event.
