Chase Elliott took home a series-leading fifth win of the season on Sunday thanks to a spectacular move to the outside line to put himself in position to take the lead.
Thanks to the push from Erik Jones, Elliott was able to will his way past the No. 12 Ford of Ryan Blaney, to add on even more to the cushion he’ll have going into the third round of the NASCAR Playoffs.

“It was a wild last couple of laps,” Elliott said on NBC. “I wasn’t that crazy about being on the bottom. Fortunately, I got just clear enough off of (turn) two to slide up in front of Erik. He gave me some great shoves – obviously, being a Team Chevy partner. We had just a good enough run to get out front and then were able to stay far enough in front of Ryan to get it done.”
The win adds six points to Elliott’s playoff point total, five coming from the win and another for the stage 2 victory Elliott earned.
Going into the Charlotte Roval, where he’s won twice in the past three seasons, he holds 46 playoff points. That’s 20 more than any other driver.
The series will return to the track at the Charlotte Roval next Sunday, October 9, with the green flag scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT on NBC.
