GMS Racing and RPM announced today in a press release that GMS has purchased a majority stake of ownership in one of the most famed teams in NASCAR history.
Along with it, GMS Racing will pick up two charters – one from the No. 43 team and the other from the Petty-Ware No. 51 car.
The move comes on the heels of the series’ turn to the NextGen car that will begin officially during the 2022 season.
GMS made its debut as a team in the ARCA Series during the 2011 racing season, and has captured a total of five drivers’ championships in the past decade between ARCA, its regional tours, and the NASCAR Truck Series.
Now, the team will look to make the move to the Cup Series – where they’ll be on a much more equal playing field than in any normal season.
