The veteran has done it.
Josef Newgarden, known as one of the best drivers in the NTT IndyCar Series, was without an Indianapolis 500 win coming into Sunday’s 107th running. That all changed in a one-lap shootout.
On the penultimate restart of the race, Newgarden was passed by defending race winner Marcus Ericsson. However, it might have played a part in getting him the win.
Newgarden managed to get by Marcus Ericsson going into turns three and four on the final lap shootout to take the win.
Newgarden said after the race that he wanted to celebrate with the fans, jumping through the fence to enjoy the moment with those in the crowd.
