JTG Daugherty Racing and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will keep things moving past 2022.
In a deal with undisclosed details, the team announced on Friday that Stenhouse Jr. has agreed to a contract extension, getting things done going into Nashville, where he finished P6 in the inaugural race last year.
“We’re pleased to announce Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is returning to the company,” Tad Geschickter, co-owner of JTG Daugherty Racing with Jodi Geschickter, Gordon Smith and Brad Daugherty, said in a release. “Ricky has done a solid job on the racetrack and off the track during Kroger Racing in-store activations for our esteemed partners. We’re continuing to learn the new car and we’re making progress. We’ve led laps, earned stage points and been close to winning this year.”
During his time with JTG Daugherty, Stenhouse Jr. has earned a Daytona 500 pole and 11 top 10 finishes in the No. 47 Chevrolet.
Through 16 races in the 2022 season, Stenhouse Jr. has more top 10 finishes (5 compared to 2) and the same amount of top 5 finishes (one) as he did in the entirety of 2021.
Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on NBC.
