Tuesday morning, NASCAR announced its qualifying format for the 2022 Clash at the Coliseum scheduled to kick off the season as a preseason event for the Cup Series in February.

The format will utilize practice sessions and single car qualifying on Saturday to set the lineup for Sunday night’s action.

The series will run four, 25-lap heat races on Sunday night, televised on FOX, with the lineups set by single-car qualifying.

The top four in each heat race will transfer to the Clash, with the rest of the field moving into two, 50-lap B-Mains.

From there, the top three finishers in each race will move to the 23-driver 150-lap Clash televised on Fox Sports 1. Kyle Larson is guaranteed a spot in the race due to winning the championship on Sunday.
