Ryan Hunter-Reay to fill Ed Carpenter Racing IndyCar seat

Ryan Hunter-Reay has been tabbed as the new driver for the Ed Carpenter Racing No. 20 entry in the NTT IndyCar Series.

The team parted ways with driver Conor Daly this week, and Hunter-Reay will step in to drive a car in the series full-time for the first season since 2021.

Hunter-Reay, the 2012 IndyCar champion and 2014 Indianapolis 500 race winner, holds 16 career NTT IndyCar Series wins and 44 podiums, with his last victory coming in the 2018 season finale at Sonoma Raceway.

Daly had raced for the team in at least a portion of the full schedule every year since 2020. Through seven races in the 2023 season, Daly was 20th in the series’ point standings while fellow ECR teammate Rinus VeeKay sits 15th.
