The No. 24 is back in victory lane.
William Byron got the job done on Saturday night at Daytona in a race that – for once – wasn’t crazy because of the accidents.
The lack of crashing and NASCAR Playoff system actually made things much different and changed the landscape of what the traditional Firecracker 400 event is like.
And it ended with a guy fighting for his season to get his first victory in a NASCAR Cup Series car.
Byron clinches his spot in the playoffs along with Matt DiBenedetto – both having survived the big one with eight laps remaining in the race.

Johnson was lucky enough to make it through this, however, another caution with two laps to go would come to end the seven-time champions season before the Playoffs could start.
The NASCAR Cup Series will return to the track for its first race of the Playoffs next Sunday at Darlington. The race will begin at 5:00 p.m. CT and will be televised by NBCSN.
