Austin Dillon was among a multitude of NASCAR Cup Series drivers venturing to Bristol a week early to try and get some experience on the new dirt track ahead of the series’ first race there.
Him and others elected to participate in the Bristol Dirt Nationals in different classes of cars throughout the week, but Dillon is the first to win.
The driver of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing car put his 604 Late Model into victory lane on Tuesday night as part of one of three features being ran at the track.
He utilized a last lap pass earlier in the night to win his heat race, and kept the momentum going from there.
Dillon started on the pole and lead all 20 laps to put his No. 3 car in victory lane, getting his week off to a nice start.
He’ll have a chance to do it again on Wednesday during his second night at Bristol, before he starts preparing for NASCAR action at Atlanta.
The Bristol Dirt Nationals will continue on Wednesday morning with action beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT. You can watch all the action live racexr.plus.
