Ayrton Gennetten earns first career Huset's Weekly win

After battling a cold through the week, Ayrton Gennetten opted to race close to home on Saturday night, running at Lake Ozark Speedway rather than his weekly trip North to Knoxville.

For the second night in a row, concluding with Sunday at Huset’s, Gennetten found himself at victory lane. The latter race earned him a $10,000 pay day.

“I’ve been on the podium with my personal stuff, I’ve been on the podium with (car owner Jud Krull’s) stuff, and we’ve been really fast,” Gennetten said on the DirtVision broadcast. “I knew when I drew the 2, I had to get out on that start. I knew I jumped the first one, but I knew I could have an advantage on the second one too. They gave me a great car. It’s really awesome to win for these guys and it’s really awesome to win 10 grand.”

Gennetten led every lap of the 25-lap A-Main, holding off Tim Kaeding through a three-lap shootout to cap off a successful weekend.

“That last yellow, really – I was able to take a deep breath and just focus on getting a good start,” Gennetten said. “I’ve been wanting to win here for a long time. This is pretty badass to say the least.”

The Missouri native has been through a lot this season, with his main sponsor leaving in the opening months of the year.

Since then, Gennetten has paired up with the Krull family, earned multiple wins and bagged his first career $10,000 check in victory lane.

“It’s crazy,” Gennetten said. “My deal kind of fell apart there at the start of the season. It was just kind of right place, right time for both of us to start racing together. It’s a long trip up here for me to come up, but it’s nice just bringing my (personal) car to a race track. I wouldn’t do it unless I knew how good of stuff these guys had and how good they are to work with. They believe in me 100 percent, and you cant replace that. You can’t replace good guys. You can buy the equipment, but you can’t buy the guys and that’s why we’re here.”

Gennetten plans on driving his own No. 19 car for the upcoming High Bank Nationals presented by Menards at the track, with the possibility of Jud Krull helping wrench on the car he had a hand in putting in victory lane this week.

The event kicks off Wednesday and concludes Saturday with a $250,000-to-win finale that pays $5,000 to all its A-Main starters. All of the action can be seen live on DirtVision and Always Race Day will be on site throughout the week to bring fans all of the action from the surface to behind the scenes.
