Brandon Overton beat the buzzer.
In the waning moments of the Super Bowl of Racing finale at Golden Isles Speedway, Overton gave chase to Ricky Thornton Jr., running in second as they came around turns 3 and 4.
Overton, knowing that Thornton Jr. would run the bottom as he had all the way around in the final laps, put the car on the cushion and as he said, made sure the ass was point out.
“I got lucky,” Overton said on the FloRacing broadcast. “I tried to do it last night and stuffed it in the fence. When I sent it in there today, I made sure I had the ass pointed out.”

Overton had held the lead on Thornton Jr., but was passed during the race.
“I knew when he passed me that I just had to stay in second and do a better job of managing the tires,” Overton said. “Ricky’s been great lately.”
The win is Overton’s second of the the three-day event, and serves as the highest paying Georgia/Florida Speedweeks race on the schedule paying $25,000.
“Man, that was badass. I’m so happy. I love this shit, man.”
The series returns to action on Sunday at Bubba Raceway Park for the fourth race of the 2023 season. All of the action can be seen through MAVTV on FloRacing for subscribers.
