Carson Macedo inherited the lead from Sheldon Haudenschild after the No. 17 team had a flat tire halfway through the World of Outlaws Sprint Car feature on Saturday night at Haubstadt.

It didn’t come smoothly, and James McFadden nearly went back-to-back, but the No. 41 car – behind Macedo’s driving was able to hold on for his second win of the season.

The win came after 20 laps of Tyler CourtneyHunter Schuerenberg, and Haudenschild battling it out for the race lead.

It looked like for a while, we might see a surprise race-winner early on in the season, but the cards weren’t there.

Schuerenberg nearly spun out and Courtney got passed by the No. 17 as well as Macedo and McFadden.

Once Haudenschild took a flat tire, it was a two-car race.

Macedo held on for the victory, collecting his first win since Volusia earlier this season, and improving on his top 5 placing in the standings.

McFadden wanted that win, just as bad, but a good points night following a win is about all someone could ask for for the No. 9, which sits in 18th in the standings.

Courtney rounded out the top 3, earning his first career World of Outlaws Sprint Car podium.

Points leader Brad Sweet salvaged a 7th-place finish on Saturday, ending his nine-race stretch of straight podiums him and his KKR team had put together.

Donny Schatz ran up to 16th after an early issue, but continued his streak of five-straight races with finishes outside the top 10.

The series returns to the track next week as it heads to Lawton Speedway on Friday night and Devil’s Bowl on Saturday. All of the action can be seen live on DirtVision.com.
