After being involved in a scary accident at Knoxville Raceway, Carson Macedo is set to participate in this weekend’s World of Outlaws Jim ‘JB’ Boyd Memorial at Beaver Dam Raceway in Wisconsin.

Macedo suffered from slight burns and a hurt rib, but it doesn’t appear as though it will keep him out of the race car.

Jason Johnson Racing posted a message regarding his status for the race this week:

Macedo’s participance is big in his season-long chase for the World of Outlaws championship.

Him, Brad Sweet and Saturday’s race winner David Gravel are locked into a three-team battle for the points lead.

While World of Outlaws rules allow drivers to miss races and still be awarded points in the case of a medical absence, the chances of competing for a championship rely on consistent top 10 finishes.

At the end of the day, Macedo will race and expect JJR to play it safe if Macedo needs to, but if he’s shown anything this week, it seems that he’s a pretty tough dude.
