The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion is going to be slinging dirt in a midget come 2021, at least for one week in Tulsa.

Chase Elliott announced Tuesday evening that he’ll be running a No. 9 midget sponsored by Dia Edge Rock Tools in the 2021 Chili Bowl Nationals.

If you’re not familiar with it, that’s the biggest week in midget racing of the year. It’s the Super Bowl of the sport.

Kyle Larson even said he’d rather win a Chili Bowl than the Daytona 500 if he had to pick between the two last year after his first career triumph in the one-week event.

Now, the competition is nuts down in Tulsa.

The best drivers in the world in these cars pack 100’s of entries into the Tulsa Expo Center to compete for the crown at the end of the week.

There is a reason Larson said what he said about the marquee event.

So, don’t expect Elliott to blow everyone in the field away and win the thing in his first attempt, but it will be a fun time seeing him rip the dirt with some of the best in a midget.

The 2021 Chili Bowl will kick off on Monday, January 11 from Tulsa and can be seen live on FloRacing.
