According to the Athletic, Knoxville Raceway fans should get a special treat during the 2021 racing season.
The track also known as the Sprint Car Capital of the World is getting a NASCAR Truck Series race next season as part of two dirt races on the 22-race schedule.
Knoxville will take the place of the popular, mid-season truck series event at Eldora Speedway that quickly became a popular event on the docket every season.
The other track that will see the trucks run is Bristol Motor Speedway – which will host a cup series race as well in 2021.
Assuming Knoxville will want to run it on a Friday night, this could set up a big weekend at the track far before the start of the month of Money in August.
However, there is no word yet on dates for Knoxville’s race nor most of the rest of the schedule. The only confirmed date for the tour right now is the season opener at Daytona on February 12.
Always Race Day will have more information as it becomes available.
Update – November 19, 2:00 p.m. – NASCAR has released the entirety of its 22-race Truck Series schedule.
The series will race at Knoxville as the penultimate race of the regular season, taking place on July 9, 2021.
