Gavan Boschele might have earned one of the biggest wins of his young career on Tuesday night, as he drove away from the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series field at Millbridge Speedway.
The 14-year-old became the national tour’s first ever winner at Night 1 of the PAG Double Down Showdown at his home track.
The tour is set to complete 10 races in its first year of operation in North Carolina, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and Oklahoma. Boschele won $4,000 and will race again on Wednesday for a chance to one-up himself at $5,000-to-win.
“It’s definitely pretty cool,” Boschele said of his win on DirtVision. “It’s really cool winning at my home track and these KKM guys gave me a great car.
Starting on the pole, Boschele surrendered the lead in the 30-lap race when he got his right-side tires onto the wall in turns three and four. He kept riding the cushion, looking for a big run to get by leader Bryant Wiedeman.
However, with nine laps to go, Wiedeman spun right next to Boschele – who called the pileup that was caused following, a racing incident.
“I didn’t mean to get into Bryant (Wiedeman) there,” Boschele said on the broadcast. “I felt bad, but I think he got a little in the rut there. It’s just a racing deal. I knew I was pretty much faster than him. At the beginning, I was just finding my line and once I got my rhythm, I went from there.”

Zach Daum and Nick Drake rounded out the podium on the night while modified star Nick Hoffman and fellow 14-year-old Brent Crews – who won the supporting micro sprint race – earning top five finishes.
Kyle Larson and Ryan Timms were among the pileup and couldn’t capitalize on runs to the front. NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Briscoe came home in 12th.
The series returns to the track for race No. 2 of the season on Wednesday night. The action is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. CT on DirtVision.
