Jason Sides gives update on No. 7S seat search

We’re less than 48 hours following Jason Sides’ official announcement of a new driver potentially filling his seat in either a part-time or full-time role.

However, Sides says he’s already heard interest from multiple drivers.

“(We’ve heard from interest from) a couple of guys. There’s a couple of guys from Australia, some here.”

Although Sides has drivers in mind, it won’t be until midweek until things advance.

“No decisions have been made yet,” Sides said. “It went out Wednesday and with the process that we have to go through, it’ll be midweek next week before anything is decided.”

Out of things that Sides made abundantly clear in his announcement, this isn’t a retirement and his car isn’t going anywhere.

He reiterated his commitment to the World of Outlaws to us and intends on running the car during race nights where the seat isn’t filled.

“I’ve been here 20 years,” Sides said. “I don’t plan on going anywhere. This is all I really know after working for the first half of my life. I’m committed to the Outlaws.”

Sides will be the driver this week as the No. 7S competes at Bristol Motor Speedway for the World of Outlaws’ Bristol Bash. Hot laps are scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. ET on DirtVision.
