The first two attempts at the Castrol FloRacing Series got postponed due to rain, but on Thursday night, the tour was officially able to kick off, with veteran Jonathan Davenport taking the first of 10 scheduled events.
The tour is being tabbed as FloRacing Night in America and takes advantage of midweek race dates ahead of races scheduled on the weekend.
The win by Davenport at Tyler County Speedway on Thursday comes in front of some of the best late model drivers in the country.
Tyler Erb and Kyle Larson, for instance, shared the podium with Davenport.
The series will be award points at the end of the season with the champion earning a $60,000 check. Only a driver’s seven best finishes count towards the standings.
Davenport was able to score the win being aided by a plethora of cautions during the first 25 laps of the 40-lap main event.
The second race for the tour will take place next week as it heads to Atomic Speedway for a Wednesday night show.
