He was hot coming into Attica Raceway Park, but Justin Peck took it to another level in the All Star Circuit of Champions points season opener on Saturday.

The new driver of the Tom Buch No. 13 car worked his way to the front and through lapped traffic to earn his second career win in the series.

“If you would have told me this last year, I would have told you you were crazy,” Peck said on FloRacing in victory lane. “I didn’t win a race all last year, so to win the opener going into an entire 58-race-long points schedule – it’s freakin’ awesome, man.”

The win is Peck’s third, already, of the 2021 racing season as him and his Buch Motorsports team are hitting on all cylinders early on.

Peck attributed the win to his team after qualifying fifth and starting the A-Main from the third position.

He didn’t have a ways to go to catch the leaders, but his car came in as the night went on.

“We started off the night and we were just OK, I felt like,” Peck said on the broadcast. “We were good in hot laps and fifth quick in qualifying, but we were more or less a fifth-place car in my opinion. I just kept talking to these guys and they were giving me what I wanted. Now we’re standing here on the frontstretch.”

Peck utilized a spot to pass Cory Eliason for second after Zeb Wise took the lead prior to the halfway mark of the 40-lap race.

A few laps later, he got by Wise and held off the young gun to capture the win.

Wise, meanwhile matches his best career finish on the tour, taking second place over Hunter Schuerenberg.

“I can’t say enough about everyone on this team,” Wise said on the broadcast. “This is only our second race (together) and we’re standing up here on the podium tying my best finish with the All Stars.”

Schuerenberg was right behind Wise and Peck late, but didn’t have enough time to make any deciding passes on his opponents.

“I might have saved a little bit too long,” Schuerenberg said. “It got us there in the end, but I probably could have pushed a little more early. I couldn’t be happier with the situation with this Vermeer Motorsports 55 car. I know everybody back in Iowa is watching from Pella in Tony’s basement.”

Brent Marks went on a streak through the field from P9 to finish in fourth during the points opener for the tour while Eliason rounded out the top five.

The series will return to the track to start four straight nights of racing as they visit Virginia Motor Speedway on April 15. As always, all the action can be caught on FloRacing.
