There was an amount of speculation surrounding Kerry Madsen’s name following the conclusion of the 2021 World of Outlaws season, but the veteran Australia native has found himself a ride.
In a second Roth Motorsports entry, Madsen will be racing an open-schedule in the No. 83Jr with backing from Toyota Racing Development.
Madsen drove the Tony Stewart Racing No. 14 car on a similar open-schedule for the majority of the 2021 season, collecting three World of Outlaws wins in 25 starts including 21 Top-10 finishes with the series.
Stewart confirmed his No. 14 car wouldn’t be running much if any races in 2022 as he embarks on his NHRA team ownership journey.
That left Madsen, a Knoxville fan favorite, without a ride after having one of the most successful seasons coming out of free agency that we’ve seen from anyone in the past few seasons.
This season, he’ll race alongside Australian teammate James McFadden in select World of Outlaws events and fellow kiwi Paul Baines will be crew chiefing the car.
Madsen will make his season debut with the team when the World of Outlaws travel west, beginning with the first race of the swing at Tulare, California’s Thunderbowl Raceway.
