Kyle Larson’s pseudo-Prelude to the Dream is back in 2023 for its second annual event and the entry list got a boisterous name added on Thursday afternoon.
NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Busch has entered Kyle Larson’s Late Model Challenge in a car being prepped by late model start Brandon Overton. The race is set to run at Volunteer Speedway for the second straight season on April 6, a day before action starts at Bristol Dirt for the NASCAR weekend there.
The car Busch will drive will hold the No. 76B and come from the Wells Motorsports stable that Overton races with.
“It’s definitely cool. You grow up watching all of these guys. I’ve never met him, so I’m excited for that,” Overton said in a release. “I’ve watched him pretty much my whole life. To say he’s going to be driving one of my race cars… I think I’m going to be more nervous watching him than I am when I’m racing out there. We’re looking forward to it. We’re just going to try to give him a good hot rod.”
A year ago, the race set the record for the most-watched, single-day stream on Flo Sports across any platform.
The race will pay its winner $20,000 and see the likes of Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Sheppard and defending champion Mike Marlar race in Bulls Gap, Tenn.
Hot laps for the race are scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. ET with the April 6 broadcast being live on FloRacing.
