For the second time in as many years, Logan Schuchart has captured the first crown jewel race of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car season.
Now, some will ask if Bristol constitutes the first crown jewel, major event title, but the guys at Shark Racing couldn’t care less.
“Hell yeah, man,” Schuchart said in victory lane. “50 grand!”
Schuchart got by David Gravel coming off of a restart that saw Donny Schatz exit the track with a fluid leak.
After that, he was gone.
Schuchart’s winning margin was over five seconds.
“It’s tough,” Schuchart said after the race. “You never know how hard you should push. I was trying to conserve a bit this week and then I’d see Kerry speed right past me.”
The defending champion instead blew the field away in his run to become the repeat champion.
The favorite coming in in Kerry Madsen just didn’t have what it took to take down Schuchart on the daytime track. He came home in fourth.
“The track was a lot heavier from the rain,” Madsen said. “I thought we should have went a little different direction, but we were so good we figured that the track might come to us. I probably should have drove better too.”
Gravel and Brad Sweet rounded out the podium behind him, both receiving some big checks along with the Shark Racing guys.
Schuchart’s teammate, Jacob Allen, came home with a top 10 that paid $3,000 to accomplish, so it’ll be a nice week for the guys out of Hanover, Pennsylvania.
Kaleb Johnson was the final transfer out of the B-Main for the night, and was overjoyed with making his first World of Outlaws race.

Johnson came home 19th and can now say that he’s beaten a 10-time World of Outlaws champion in a race.
Schuchart and his team will take home the big check to cap off 10 straight days of racing that became on 11 on Sunday with the makeup show.
“It’s big for this Shark Racing team,” Schuchart said. “Props to everybody. This has been a long 11 days. I have the easy job, these guys have worked their butts off keeping this thing on the track this week.”
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will be back on track on Friday as it visits Cedar Lake for a pair of races surrounding the Independence Day holiday. As always, the action can be seen live on DirtVision.
