Tim McCreadie put his car up front, never making contact with Tyler Erb on Saturday, but it was Erb coming out on top in the first points race of the season for the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series.
McCreadie was frustrated with Erb a night before. Erb was kicked out of the event for hitting a car under caution, but returned on Saturday night.
For the majority of the race, he had his No. 1 car out front, aside from a short stint where McCreadie took the lead on his outside without making contact with him.
Erb was able to get the position back off of a restart post-caution, and hold the lead for the rest of the night.
The only saving grace to the finish was Jonathan Davenport making a run at Erb in the closing laps.
However, the No. 49 just ran out of time and was unable to complete the pass, giving Erb the win as well as the series points lead to start off the year.
The series will return to the track on Monday night as it heads to Bubba Raceway Park to wrap up its Winter Nationals Swing. The action can be seen on MAVTV Plus.
