When the USAC Silver Crown Series takes to the track at Terre Haute on Sunday, it will be the largest field in 25 years for the historic tour’s season opener.

The field is made up of 38 cars and an amount of drivers that bring intrigue into the 100-lap race.

Six-time Silver Crown champion Kody Swanson returns to the series to try for a seventh title with a new number on his car. As the defending champion, he’ll head to the track with a No. 1 to signify the accomplishment.

Swanson drove for two separate teams during the 2022 season, racing the dirt portion of the schedule for Chris Dyson and the pavement portion for Kevin Doran. The pair of team owners have partnered up, trying to become the first USAC Silver Crown owners to capture a title with the No. 1.

Some up and coming stars in the dirt world will make their USAC Silver Crown debuts Sunday, as well.

Defending USAC Midget champion Buddy Kofoid is behind the wheel of the Hans Lein-owned No. 97 car. It’s part of a four-race, all-dirt slate for Kofoid with the series.

Current USAC Non-Wing Sprint Car Series points leader Emerson Axsom will make his debut as well, racing in the No. 20 car that his dad drove out of the same shop nine years ago. Greg Nolen takes over as the familiar partners try out, ‘the big cars.’

Familiar power names to the USAC brand in CJ Leary, Justin Grant and Brady Bacon will all be in action as the most powerful cars under the umbrella take to the ‘Action Track.’

The action kicks off on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. with hot laps ahead of qualifying for the 100-lap main event. For those that can’t make it to the track, the race will be broadcasted on FloRacing.
