Bobby Pierce pulled across the scales following Thursday night’s DIRTCar Summer Nationals Hell Tour race at Davenport.

When the light turned green and the scales made it official, Pierce received an ovation of applause from the crowd at the Iowa track, having won his fourth Hell Tour race of the season and second victory in as many days.

“It’s good to hear cheers,” Pierce said when he got out of his car in victory lane. “Usually, half of them are boo’s.”

Not on Thursday, though, as the Iowa crowd to appear know its talent.

Pierce, who is chasing his fourth career DIRTCar Summer Nationals Hell Tour championship, knows that every win is more valuable than the last.

The driver of the No. 32 has said that he will miss an estimated five races out of the 36 scheduled for the summer tour.

However, with rainouts, the tour has dropped its schedule to 33 events.

For the series points standings, it will be taking the top 31 finishes for each driver. If Pierce is to miss any more than two races, he’ll need all the cushion he can get.

He, at least, got some more on Thursday defeating the field and earning the series best fourth win of the season.

Last time he went back-to-back, it took him six races to find victory lane again. He hopes that trend changes on Friday at Route 66.

“I hope to kind of knock that streak off,” Pierce said. “Maybe tomorrow we make it three in a row.”
